como modelo para la regi\u00f3n templada<\/h5><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5054 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ege.exactas.uba.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/burroni-e1719101002831-300x136.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"100\" \/>Mediante estudios observacionales evaluamos las variaciones a corto y largo plazo de las abundancias de <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>\u00a0en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, y la expansi\u00f3n de esta especie hacia regiones m\u00e1s frescas. En estudios experimentales en campo y laboratorio evaluamos los factores ambientales y mecanismos que favorecen la persistencia interanual (con \u00e9nfasis en la temporada fr\u00eda) y las altas abundancias de esta especie (con \u00e9nfasis en la temporada c\u00e1lida) en la regi\u00f3n templada.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Factores que afectan la din\u00e1mica poblacional de\u00a0<em>Ochlerotatus albifasciatus<\/em>\u00a0en Buenos Aires y Patagonia<\/h4><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10813 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ege.exactas.uba.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Aedes-albifasciatus-1-300x289.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"176\" height=\"170\" \/>Investigamos la ecolog\u00eda de este mosquito y las\u00a0condiciones que favorecen las abundancias extremas de adultos en algunos momentos tanto en la regi\u00f3n Metropolitana de Buenos Aires como en el Valle de Sarmiento (Chubut). Para esto se estudian las fluctuaciones en las abundancias de inmaduros y adultos en relaci\u00f3n con las condiciones ambientales y clim\u00e1ticas de cada regi\u00f3n, y se eval\u00faan los factores que influyen sobre el \u00e9xito durante el desarrollo, como por ejemplo la temperatura, la desecaci\u00f3n del h\u00e1bitat, y las interacciones biol\u00f3gicas como la competencia intra-espec\u00edfica y el parasitismo por parte del nematodo\u00a0<em>Strelkovimermis spiculatus<\/em>.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Comunidades de mosquitos inmaduros y adultos, y estudios de la fauna acompa\u00f1ante en ambientes acu\u00e1ticos naturales<\/h4><p>Obtenemos informaci\u00f3n de base sobre las variaciones en las abundancias de adultos de las distintas especies y su relaci\u00f3n con variables clim\u00e1ticas o de entorno. Para las especies que se desarrollan en ambientes acu\u00e1ticos naturales, incluyendo charcos temporarios, lagunas y humedales, estudiamos las variaciones espacio temporales en su composici\u00f3n y abundancia, y su asociaci\u00f3n con las variables ambientales, clim\u00e1ticas, y las posibles interacciones biol\u00f3gicas con competidores, predadores o par\u00e1sitos.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Importancia de las interacciones predador-presa para las din\u00e1micas poblacionales de mosquitos<\/h4><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10820 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ege.exactas.uba.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/predador-presa-2-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"113\" height=\"154\" \/>Durante el desarrollo inmaduro de los mosquitos en el medio acu\u00e1tico ocurren muchos de los procesos de regulaci\u00f3n de las poblaciones. Para estudiar la importancia de las interacciones predador-presa para las din\u00e1micas poblacionales de los cul\u00edcidos, en una primera aproximaci\u00f3n se analizan los patrones de coexistencia de mosquitos y predadores en distintos tipos de ambientes acu\u00e1ticos. Por otra parte, en laboratorio se eval\u00faan los efectos letales (muerte) y no letales (prolongaci\u00f3n del tiempo de desarrollo, menor tama\u00f1o del adulto) de los predadores m\u00e1s relevantes sobre los mosquitos inmaduros.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Efectos t\u00e9rmicos sobre la biolog\u00eda preimaginal de distintas especies de mosquitos<\/h4><p>Teniendo en cuenta que la temperatura es uno de los factores ambientales que m\u00e1s afecta el \u00e9xito durante el desarrollo de distintas especies de mosquitos, en el marco de esta l\u00ednea se estudia el efecto de la temperatura sobre el tiempo de desarrollo y la supervivencia preimaginal de varias especies de mosquitos. Los estudios se realizan en condiciones de laboratorio con temperatura controlada (constante y variable), y en condiciones naturales para evaluar el realismo de los datos de laboratorio.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Uso de la Morfometr\u00eda Geom\u00e9trica (MG) para el estudio de comunidades y poblaciones de cul\u00edcidos<\/h4><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10822 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ege.exactas.uba.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alas-aedes-1-300x104.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"308\" height=\"107\" \/>Evaluamos la aplicabilidad de la MG para estudiar la filogeograf\u00eda a distintas escalas espaciales, analizando el grado de homogeneidad en la forma de las alas o de los huevos entre poblaciones separadas por distancias grandes (<em>Ochlerotatus albifasciatus<\/em>) o peque\u00f1as (<em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>). Dentro de una misma poblaci\u00f3n analizamos el efecto de las condiciones ambientales durante el desarrollo como las bajas temperaturas o la escasez de alimento sobre la forma y el grado de asimetr\u00eda fluctuante de las alas de mosquitos. A nivel de comunidad de mosquitos, exploramos la utilidad de la t\u00e9cnica para la identificaci\u00f3n de ejemplares da\u00f1ados para los cuales solamente se cuenta con las alas.<\/p><\/li><li><h4>Estudio de situaciones en las que el comportamiento humano facilita la disponibilidad de sitios de cr\u00eda para mosquito<\/h4><p>Se desarrollan estudios espec\u00edficos para evaluar y cuantificar la producci\u00f3n de mosquitos debida a la presencia de h\u00e1bitats larvales generados por actividades antr\u00f3picas.
